Graphic & Print Technician Part-Time
POSITION SUMMARY
The City of Pittsburgh Print Shop within the Innovation & Performance Department provides printing and graphic design services that support the diverse needs of city departments. The Graphic and Print Technician assists the Graphic and Print Supervisor in delivering the best possible products that meet the needs of our City departments.

Union: This position is included in the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 2719 bargaining unit and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

- A current, valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License is required prior to appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Qualifying Requirements:
Your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will receive notice of your eligibility status.
- WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show two (2)years of full-time experience in graphics and printing work, such as planning, designing, creating, and producing artistic visual materials, utilizing various techniques and equipment for the development of informational media such as publications, exhibits, outdoor signage, displays, and brochures, or other related experience. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
- EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show an Associate's Degree from a fully accredited institution in Graphic Design, Web Design, Printing Technology, or a related field. (See NOTE under General Application Requirements regarding education/training verification.)
- EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position, based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above. The Total Qualifying Requirement is four (4) years. (See NOTE under General Application Requirements regarding education/training verification.)

POSITION DUTIES
- Operates various printing machines.
- Works with a wide range of media through graphic design software.
- Thinks creatively and develops new design concepts, graphics, and layouts.
- Illustrates concepts by designing rough layouts of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size, and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
- Operates related graphic arts equipment (e.g., printer, collator, paper cutter, hole puncher, binder, etc.) as requested or required.
- Assembles, collates, binds, punches, etc. duplicated materials.
- Prepares rough drafts and presents ideas.
- Amends final designs to clients' comments and gains full approval.
- Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned or required.
