Junior Interior Designer (Contract, Part-Time)

We're seeking a detail-oriented Junior Interior Designer to join our team on a part-time, contract basis (1099), with the potential to become full time. This is primarily a remote position with flexibility to work on your own schedule, though you'll need to be within driving distance of Marblehead, MA for periodic site visits, design meetings, installations, and photo shoots.

Your primary focus will be creating professional construction documentation for residential renovation projects. You'll also support other phases of design work including client presentations, sourcing, and installations. This role offers mentorship and the potential to grow into a full-time position for the right candidate.

Prepare professional construction documentation and drawings for residential renovation projects (primary focus)

  • Create detailed FFE (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) schedules
  • Create client-facing design presentations and mood boards
  • Source fabrics, furnishings, and decor for projects
  • Assist with installations and styling
  • Communicate with trade professionals, contractors, and vendors
  • Collaborate on design development and project coordination
  • Support site visits and client meetings
  • Learn and adapt to new design platforms and technologies
  • Support various project needs as they arise (work ebbs and flows with project cycles)

    Required:
  • High proficiency in Chief Architect (this is essential!)
  • Strong proficiency in SketchUp and Adobe Photoshop
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Passion for interior design and residential spaces
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the field
  • Comfort with technology and ability to quickly learn new software
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
  • Must be within driving distance of Marblehead, MA

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of or enthusiasm to learn Rayon Design platform
  • Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel/Google Sheets)
  • Interest in historic homes
  • Portfolio demonstrating construction documentation, technical drawings, or design work
  • Experience with sourcing and vendor relationships
