Position Responsibilities

The CHeT Bioinformaticist, will collaborate with investigators and research assistants on advanced disease modeling and clinical trial simulations, primarily related to neurological disease. In addition, he/she will participate in clinical data analyses and writing related to these analyses for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Researches, develops, tests and executes disease progression modeling and clinical trial simulation studies through the development of mathematical models and/or machine learning algorithms with assigned diseases of interest to CHET investigators. Includes coding data, organizing datasets, statistical analysis, and use of various programming languages. Write programs in order to manipulate data to conduct modeling analysis.
  • Evaluates and designs key components of data analysis development plans and provides input and scientific opinion to project teams. Creates solutions based on requirements gathering.
  • Prepares databases for analysis related to disease progression modeling. Builds modifications based on designs. Provides consultation support on related programs; periodically instructs user groups on programs.
  • Leads or participates in the development of summary documentations of data analysis projects including but not limited to abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, and websites.
  • Develops and maintains strong knowledge in analysis approaches for disease progression modeling.
  • Keeps up-to-date on current software programs and updates, including but not restricted to R, NONMEM, or Matlab.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering and 2-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 1-2 years’ experience specific to research data analyses or bioinformatics preferred.
  • Advanced degree and/or training in bioinformatics preferred.
  • Experience with clinical data mining is ideal.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
