Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist (working at the State Court Administrator's Office)

Description
We are pleased to announce that the Programs and Ancillary Services Unit within the Court Services Division of the State Court Administrator’s Office is looking for an experienced Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist. This professional position is responsible for providing consultation and recommendations to leadership, committees, and workgroups with internal and external stakeholders around equity and inclusion. This work is critical to support the branch's vision of a court system that is accessible, fair, consistent, responsive, free of discrimination, independent, and well-managed.
 
The position is classified as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist and will work normal business hours, Monday-Friday. This position will work predominantly from a remote work location at this time, eventually working in an office setting at the Minnesota Judicial Center, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Example of Duties
The following are examples of major job duties this position is expected to perform.

  • Serve as staff lead for multiple committees and workgroups, including providing subject matter expertise, preparing for meetings, developing action plans and timetables, ensuring committee efforts align with leadership and organizational strategic vision, preparing final work product, and presenting work product to leadership groups and implementing recommendations.
  • Assist leadership in achieving organizational goals by designing and evaluating diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies; may participate in or lead strategic or operational planning efforts in these areas.
  • Coordinate diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts for the State Court Administrator’s Office.
  • Provide information and consultation on diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization including policies, procedures, and strategic goals or other work efforts.
  • Establish a framework for bringing a race equity lens to the work efforts within Court Services using the tools from GARE in order to draw connections between daily work and impacting equity.
  • Compile and publish annual MJB Diversity and Inclusion report.

Typical Qualifications
Any combination of education, training, and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below will be considered. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in adult education, human resources, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of related experience. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong aptitude for seeing and understanding the big picture to develop strategy and implementation plans based on the unique context of the environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization and with external justice partners, governmental and private agencies, and the public.
  • Proven understanding of and ability to implement leadership’s vision.
  • Proficient presentation skills.
  • Astute understanding of the various support, leadership, and advisory needs of multi-disciplinary task forces and committees.
  • High capacity to ensure collaborative action, when complicated by the presence of competing perspectives.
  • Experience leading or participating in organizational change.
  • Knowledge of multiculturalism, intercultural communications, anti-discrimination laws and regulations, or related content.
  • Skilled researcher, able to identify and implement best practices of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Exceptional communication skills, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational and cultural boundaries with ease, with the capability to provide respectful feedback.
  • Demonstrated judgment, analysis, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the organization, programs, and administration of the court system.
  • Experience working within governmental organization and understanding of the pace and process of decision making, communication and change.
  • Experience writing grant proposals.
  • Experience building and implementing multi-year diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.

SALARY RANGE: $27.79 - $43.01/hour ($58,026 - $89,805 annually).
