The role: 
Our Engineering Technology Advancement Unit is recruiting for an automation analyst to join our team! In this role, you will research, test, develop standards, train and provide technical guidance relating to technology advancement. Apply today!

A day in the life:
  • Research software, hardware and procedures for advanced 3D design and visualization by working with software developers and agency staff.
  • Serve as a technical resource on agency, statewide and national groups. 
  • Provide training and direct support relating to technology advancement including 3D design and visualization, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program activities, and design staff in creating data that supports visualization, automated machine guidance and further advanced workflows
  • Work with section staff to develop standard agency procedures for creating, distributing and utilizing 3D design and visualization data.
  • Work with section staff to establish best practices and guidelines for advanced UAS data captures and processing.
  • Hybrid remote work options available! Work is performed in office and field environments.
  • Outdoor activities involve working near live traffic on roadways, active construction sites working around heavy equipment in difficult terrain and in all weather conditions.
  • Periodic statewide travel required and with potential for occasional out-of-state travel.

What we need:
Five years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been independently planning and completing assignments.
OR
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying or transportation-related engineering and two years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

Note: You do not need to have all of these qualities to be eligible for this position. 
  • Working knowledge of road design & CADD software, particularly Bentley OpenRoads and MicroStation.
  • Working knowledge of 3D visualization software; particularly Bentley Context capture and LumenRT.
  • Working knowledge of digital terrain modeling, engineering alignments, and coordinate systems.
  • Working knowledge of GIS software, particularly ESRI ArcMap.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
