Job Summary
This position exists to oversee administration of a comprehensive and technical state environmental program, MinnesotaGreenCorps, whereby Americorps members assist Minnesota local government units, public institutions, communities and non-profit organizations in implementing targeted and measurable environmental activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years advanced professional experience in an environmental assistance program. (Advanced professional-level experience is equivalent to Planner Senior State, Environmental Specialist 3, State Program Administrator Senior or equivalent level work). Advanced professional experience includes a demonstrated progressive level of responsibility and leadership experience, as well as experience working with federal and state environmental programs and priorities to perform environmental outreach, assistance, education.
Experience administering various federal funding and program requirements.
Skill in:
Project budgeting, projections and expenditures.
Leading and directing a variety of projects and teams.
Organizing projects and resources to ensure successful completion.
Possess a valid Driver’s license (see additional requirements).
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with administering AmeriCorps programs; AmeriCorps alumni strongly preferred.
Experience related to the federal grant application process and preparing proposals in response to Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) or other Request for Proposals.
Working knowledge of state service commission roles and responsibilities.
High levels of creativity and problem-solving skills to work with a variety of clientele on AmeriCorps service issues and developed skills working collaboratively with MPCA programs.
Knowledge of current environmental protection and climate programs and outreach efforts, including how service and volunteering can be result in measurable outcomes.
Technical knowledge of Federal and state policies and requirements related to service and volunteering.
Knowledge of the impact of service and volunteering projects to reduce greenhouse gas, air and water pollution and solid wastes.
Experience leading other professionals.
Training on environmental topics.
Demonstrated skills communicating with stakeholders and the public.
Ability to work collaboratively and develop and foster partnerships with key stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small office equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Additional Requirements
Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basicdriver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
