What you will be doing:
The Public Health Nurse 2 is the journey level of the series and applies generalized knowledge of public health nursing competencies, principles, and procedures. Incumbents independently provide a broad range of services to individuals, families, communities, and systems. At this level, the Public Health Nurse 2 has onsite support from a higher-level Public Health Nurse to assist with care of highly complex and/or unique situations, primarily working in the Public Health Center and occasionally traveling to outlying areas or communities to perform itinerant nursing services; however, itineration is not the incumbent’s predominant responsibility.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in Homer, Alaska in the South Central Region of Alaska, providing services to the communities on the South Kenai Peninsula. Communities served by Homer are accessible by vehicle, small aircraft, or boat. This position will primarily work out of the Homer Public Health Center. The Health Center staff includes a Public Health Nurse 3(PHN 3), Public Health Nurse 2 (PHN 2), and one admin support staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
AND
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or Direct Entry Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing from an accredited college or university.

Special Note: CPR Certification

Salary: $3,420.75 Bi-Weekly; an approximate monthly estimate is provided in the posting.
