Clinical Research Assistant

Job Overview:

  • Full-time position and 2-year commitment to the Neonatal Neurology Program
  • Coordinate multiple clinical research studies, including:
    • Phase III clinical trials
    • Longitudinal follow-up studies
    • Patient registries 
    • Device development
  • Work closely with multiple physicians, primarily in neurology and neonatology
  • Opportunity for daily shadowing in the NICU and outpatient clinics, as well as regular learning opportunities (lectures, case conferences, grand rounds, etc.)

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Protocol development
  • IRB submission and maintenance 
  • Medical chart review
  • Data acquisition and analysis
  • Grant submission
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Facilitate inpatient study enrollment and outpatient follow-up visits
  • Daily interaction with physicians, nurses, patients, and families

 

Current and upcoming projects include: 

  • Clinical treatment trial for neonatal seizures
  • Clinical trial for patients undergoing therapeutic hypothermia for neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury
  • Neurodevelopmental outcomes for patients with history of neonatal seizures
  • Various studies involving neonatal EEG and neuroimaging (MRI)
  • Device development to assess infant fine motor skills following brain injury
  • Comparative effectiveness study of therapeutic hypothermia for mild neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • One year research and/or clinical experience preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal skills, writing/communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Self-starter who takes initiative when appropriate and works well in teams with multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse backgrounds
