Job Description And Duties
The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for two permanent, full-time, Attorney positions within the Enforcement Division. Positions to be located in the Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or San Diego office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.
Under the general direction and close supervision of an Assistant Chief Counsel of the Enforcement Division, the Attorney performs investigations and prosecutions of less complicated and less sensitive litigation under all the laws subject to DFPI's jurisdiction. Most cases are administrative which will require legal research, drafting of pleadings, preparation and argument of motions, discovery, settlement negotiations and conferences, hearings, and post hearing proceedings, relating to the administrative matters. In addition to administrative matters, and Attorney may have the opportunity to participate in civil litigation.
Cases will include the issuance of Orders for violations of the law, actions to bar, suspend, revoke, censure and deny companies and individuals that are applying for or have licenses, actions to void loan transactions and to levy administrative penalties and obtain restitution for consumers and investors that have lost funds. The Attorney will issue subpoenas to banks and companies to obtain information necessary in the investigation of a case.

Minimum Qualifications
Membership in The California State Bar. (Applicants who are not members of The California State Bar but who are eligible to take the California State Bar examination or are in their final year of law school will be admitted to the examination but will not be considered eligible for appointment until they are admitted top The State Bar.)
