Patient Care RN - Operating Room Periop 101 

The Perioperative Onboarding Program at Bayhealth follows the AORN Perioperative 101™ curriculum, providing new and transitioning RNs with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the operating room. This structured program includes classroom instruction, skills labs, simulations, and precepted clinical experiences to build confidence and competence in surgical nurses. Bayhealth will offer the program three times per year in January, June, and Sept.

 

Responsibilities:

1. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
2. Uphold Bayhealth’s values of excellence, compassion, and integrity in all aspects of patient care.
3. Demonstrate commitment to professional growth by applying new skills in real-time clinical settings.
4. Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to provide excellent patient outcomes.
5. Assist in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care, ensuring best practices in surgical nursing.
6. Participate in hands-on learning with experienced perioperative nurses in the operating room.
7. Engage in a structured training program covering perioperative principles, sterile technique, patient safety, and surgical procedures.
 

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

  • Education: Nursing Diploma; Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program/university
     
  • Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; Current and unrestricted RN license in the state of Delaware (or eligibility for DE licensure).
     
  • Experience:  Minimum: New graduate nurses or RNs transitioning into perioperative nursing are encouraged to apply.
