Official Residence Coordinator
Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Consul General (CG), the Official Residence (OR) Coordinator is responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the Consulate General of Canada’s hospitality platform at the OR in Los Angeles. The Coordinator is responsible for preparation of simple meals and appropriate food for small receptions. The Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the OR including the inventory of assets. The position also contributes to the creation and maintenance of a high-quality hospitality platform in collaboration with the CG, the CG’s Assistant, Consulate General staff, suppliers and vendors.
Area of Selection:
This selection process is open to applicants legally residing in the Los Angeles metropolitan region at the time of appointment. The Government of Canada will not reimburse relocation costs under any circumstances.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
*Language will be assessed further during the process.
Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.
- Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent (GED).
OR
- Certificate or training in Culinary Arts, Catering or Food and Beverage from college or trade school
OR
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or work experience in a related field
Language:
- Basic proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Experience:
- At least two (2) years of recent experience (in the past five (5) years) working as a household manager or related position in hospitality such as: cook in a restaurant, hotel, or similar service environment.
- Experience providing basic administrative and/or clerical services.
- Experience using standard office equipment and working with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook and other databases.
RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of basic, standard office and administrative procedures and practices;
- Knowledge of general culinary procedures and practices;
- Knowledge of general residential maintenance;
- Knowledge of inventory management
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
- Experience in meal preparations for large events of 30 guests or more
- Experience reconciling budgets/invoices.
Operational Requirements:
- Position requires employee to work on-site at the Official Residence in Los Angeles.
- Occasional overtime will be required;
- Working hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday;
- Physical ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Conditions of Employment:
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
